Telangana: One in four samples tests coronavirus positive on Wednesday
Hyderabad: Telangana registered season's highest number of cases (269) in a single day so far including the head of the King Koti hospital, the designated Covid out-patient hospital in the state. However, the big relief is the death of only one patient due to Covid in the last 24 hours.
The Health department, which did not disclose the number of tests being conducted every day, changed the procedure and started giving numbers from Tuesday. 1096 samples were tested mostly in GHMC limits out of which 269 samples tested positive while 827 came out negative. One in four samples came out positive in the tests done in the last 24 hours.
GHMC as usual reported the highest number of cases (214) among the fresh cases. A noted skin specialist from Warangal was admitted in a corporate hospital in Secunderabad and there were rumours that he passed away while undergoing treatment but his family dismissed them.
Although it is being stated that children below 10 years and elders above 60 years are more vulnerable it has been found that most of the positive cases in the state (679) are in the 26-30 years age group. Also, another 559 cases are in 20 to 25 years age group. Infact nearly 50 percent of the total cases (2490) are from the 20 to 40 years age group.
Also, the number of total deaths rose to 192 on Wednesday. The highest number of deaths (71) are in patients with hypertension and diabetes. However, 35 have died without any co-morbidities. Also, among positives 65 percent are males while rest are female.
