Telangana: Over 150 UK returnees go missing, 2 more test positive
Around 154 persons of the total 1,216 who returned from Britain since December 9 could not be tracked. Except for the 154 persons, all the remaining who arrived in Telangana have been traced.
In the view of the new strain of coronavirus detected in the UK, the Telangana government directed the officials to track all the passengers who returned to the state since December 9. The state health department also asked the passengers to move into quarantine and get the tests done. So far, 970 UK returnees have been traced and the tests were conducted on them.
Around 16 persons tested positive on Friday, two on Saturday and two persons from Medchal Malkajgiri on Sunday taking the total positive cases among UK returnees to 20.
Meanwhile, the officials have launched efforts to track the remaining 154 persons based on their passport. However, the details such as address and phone numbers mentioned in the passport were seemed to be wrong. The health authorities said that those who arrived from the UK or passed through the country can reach on 040-24651119 and approach through Whatsapp 9154170960.
