Telangana pays tribute to heroes in Kargil war

Hyderabad: Rich tribute was paid to martyrs on Friday on the occasion of 'Kargil Vijay Diwas' by defence officials, and former Union Minister Bandaru Dattatreya and BJP MLC N Ramachander Rao.

Dattatreya and Rao visited the memorial at Parade Grounds in Secunderabad here and paid floral tribute to the martyrs to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Kargil war, a Defence press release said. On behalf of veterans, Lieutenant General Surendra Nath (Retd) paid homage to the war heroes, the release said.

Major General N Srinivas Rao, General Officer Commanding, Telangana and Andhra Sub-area, Commandants of College of Air Warfare, AOC Centre, Military Hospital, Secunderabad, and Station Commander were among the senior military dignitaries to lay the wreaths, it said. On display for the public were tanks, guns and infantry weapons, under the theme 'Nation First', at the General KV Krishna Rao Parade Ground, Secunderabad.
