Telangana: Revanth Reddy slams Prakash Javadekar for keeping mum

Hyderabad: Congress leader and Malkajgiri MP A Revanth Reddy on Sunday sought an explanation from Union Minister Prakash Javadekar on Srisailam hydel power project accident incident. He said that the pregnant women residing in and around the power project had abortions due to the impact of the pollution caused following the fire accident.

He said that the Union Minister had not taken any action on the issue although he had submitted a personal representation to Javadekar and urged him to initiate action on the issue. He also said that the Union Minister had not taken any action on the issue of the construction of State secretariat by violating existing environmental laws. He said that the permission of Union Environmental Ministry was mandatory to take up any kind of construction in and around Hussain Sagar lake area. He said that the Supreme Court had also given clear orders to not to build any kind of permanent constructions in and around the lake.

He said that he had lodged a complaint with the Union Minister on the issue of construction of the State secretariat complex and submitted all kinds of evidences. Reddy said that the Union Minister had not taken any action on the issue so far and added that the he has been dodging the matter as he was scared of being caught before the National Green Tribunal, which had asked the Environmental Ministry to file its counter in the issue while responding to a petition filed by Revanth Reddy.
