Update: 2020-02-16 03:05 IST

Hyderabad: The state Cabinet would meet here on Sunday to finalise the dates of the Budget session of the Assembly which is likely to be convened in March.

This meeting of the Cabinet assumes importance as it is likely to take up many burning issues like implementation of the National Population Register, New Revenue Act and land allocation of funds for some institutions. It will also take up the resolution against the controversial Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).

It may be recalled that Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao had recently stated that the CAA was "not good" for the country and that keeping Muslims outside the purview of the act had pained him. The TRS had also voted against the Bill in Parliament.

The government is also contemplating to move a resolution against the CAA on the lines of some other states. Other issues that are likely to figure during the cabinet meeting are the schedule for implementation of Palle Pragati and 'Pattana Pragati' programs, aimed at creating basic infrastructural facilities and taking up various developmental works in rural areas and towns.

Municipal Administration Minister KT Rama Rao, in a meeting of the district collectors had indicated that the programme would be taken up for ten days.

The Cabinet may also discuss about the re-organisation of Irrigation system into eleven circles, which the Chief Minister had announced during his visit to Kaleshwaram project.

The Cabinet is also likely to discuss and decide on the issue of formulation of a special policy for the persons going abroad for education and employment.
