Hyderabad: Safety norms under lockdown 5 go for a toss in some parts of Telangana. With more relaxations, people are coming out in big numbers on roads. Violation of maintenance of social distance in busy areas is visible.

The mandated use of masks in the public places was also not 100 per cent. Most of the police check posts in busy areas in Hyderabad were removed. In districts also, strict vigil is lacking.

Officials maintained that the Centre extended lockdown till June 30 with more relaxations like inter-state transportation and curfew between 9pm and 5 am and the TS government also announced complying with the Centre's directive.

Lack of maintenance of social distance by people at the crowded places, mainly in markets and commercial establishments, is a cause of big worry. The managements will have to adhere strictly the safety norms prescribed by the government. Lack of extensive monitoring mechanism at the ground level was one of the main reasons for violating the safety measures by people and also the business establishments.

The removal of check posts in many parts of Hyderabad drew strong criticism from locals in many areas. Narayana Rao from Dilsuknagar said, "it seem government is in no mood to take extra measures to contain the spread of deadly virus. On one hand number of positive cases is increasing and, on the other hand, people are freely moving in public places without adequate safety measures. State government authorities claimed that Police, Municipal and Health department officials were holding regular meetings to enforce safety measures strictly and the local authorities were also asked to send reports on the movements of people in their localities till ascertain the threat of spread of virus.
