Telangana schools for Classes 1 to 5 to remain shut this year
Telangana education department has decided not to reopen schools for Classes 1 to 5 for the academic year 2020-21. All the students from Class 1 to 5 are likely to be promoted. The announcement is also applicable to private schools.
The decision comes in the wake of anticipation of coronavirus second wave in Telangana.
Meanwhile, the schools for Classes 9 and 10 along with the junior and degree colleges in the state are likely to be opened after Sankranti. Earlier, the government decided to run classes for 120 days in schools from December first week. However, the government's did not materialize. Later, the education department proposed to hold classwork for Class 9 and above from January first week or after Sankranti.
A proposal on reopening of schools for Class 9 and above has already sent to the government and a decision on this is yet to be taken.
