Telangana: Skelatal remains of another girl found in well
Hyderabad: The skeletal remains of a girl, missing since last month, were found in a dry well in a village in Telangana, three days after the body of another teenaged girl was recovered from the spot,police said Tuesday.
Amid suspicion that a serial killer could be behind the deaths of the two girls Hajipur village Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district, police said further investigations were on and the owner of the land in which the farm well is located, was being questioned.
The unearthing of the skeletal remains of the 18-year old girl triggered protests by a section of the residents of the village who attacked and tried to set fire the house of the owner, Srinivas Reddy. They were dispersed, police said.
On Friday last, the body of a 14-year-old girl was found in the well after police launched a search on a missing complaint by her father.
According to the postmortem report, the girl had been sexually assaulted before being killed.
As part of investigation, a police team visited the crime scene Monday and after a thorough search unearthed the skeletal remains buried along with a bag which contained an ID card of a girl aged 18,police said.
It was later found she belonged to same village and had gone missing around one-and-half month ago.
The remains were exhumed and sent for forensic examination, police said.
In the backdrop of the recoveries, family members of a 11-year old girl who has been missing since 2015 urged the police to take up further searches fearing she could have also met with similar fate.
Rachakonda Police Commissioner Mahesh M Bhagwat said a Sub-Inspector of Police has been suspended for "neglecting" crime prevention duty and an Assistant Commissioner of Police was now investigating the cases.
"Investigation in the two murder cases is going on in the right direction. We will detect the case and are collecting scientific evidence," he said.
