Telangana State allocates Rs 500 croe to tackle coronavirus
Telangana: The Telangana State Cabinet has allocated Rs 500 crore to meet any contingency to prevent the spread of coronary virus.
Briefing media after the cabinet meeting, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao said that the government was taking all possible preventive measures and there was nothing to panic.
However, it has kept 1020 beds ready and 321 beds in ICU category have been earmarked. He said 240 ventilators have also been kept ready and quarantine facilities at four places have been created.
Though all educational institutions from primary school to university level, coaching centres and summer camps would be shut down till March 31, social welfare hostels and residential schools will remain open to enable the students to appear for examinations. However, necessary sanitation measures will be taken, he said.
The CM said all marriage halls which have been booked till March 31 will be permitted to be used for marriage purposes. Instructions have been given to them not to accept any bookings from April 1. He said cabinet has further decided not to permit any rallies and public meetings.
Similarly, all swimming pools, gyms, zoo, amusement parks and museums would also remain closed. The cabinet also decided that no sports events will be held. However, public transport services like RTC buses and Metro rail will continue to operate and all necessary measures to sanitise them will be taken.
The Chief Minister also appealed to the media, including social media not to create any panic among people by spreading rumours. He said if they do so, stringent action would be taken against them which could include their arrests.
