Hyderabad: The TRS leader and Government Whip in Council Karne Prabhakar on Thursday said that the Telangana State gave Rs 2.72 lakh crore to the Centre during 2014 to 2019 but in return the Centre gave Rs 1.12 lakh crore only as part of devolution of funds.

The TRS leader alleged that Central government gave Rs 1.6 lakh crore less to the State government during the last five years.

"When BJP president Amit Shah claimed that the Centre gave Rs 1 lakh crore an additional funds to the State government, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao gave counter to his claims.

The chief minister on several occasions gave representations to the Centre requesting not to cut down the central funds to the progressive States," he stated.

The TRS leader said that the BJP leaders should feel ashamed that the State could not get Rs 25,000 crore on an average every year.

Instead of supporting the Centre, the BJP leaders should pressurise them for giving more funds to the State and if they cannot fight then they should accept their failure, said Prabhakar.
