Telangana state government in catch-22 situation on Covid tests
Hyderabad: The State government which has so far denied access to the people to avail services from the private laboratories for Covid tests approved by the ICMR is found itself in a catch-22 situation.
Reason being, while people's representatives and politicians tested corona positive are lining up to take admission in the corporate private hospitals for better treatment.
On the other hand, people tested positive for the same are left with no other option but to take admission at the government-run Gandhi Hospital, which was designated as the Covid Hospital.
Earlier, a senior BJP leader and former Khairatabad MLA, Chintala Ramachandra Reddy who was tested positive for Covid infection had undergone treatment at a private corporate hospital.
Similarly, a ruling party sitting MLA from Jangaon has been undergoing medical care at a private corporate hospital. Latest, the Nizamabad rural MLA tested positive, is also reportedly taking admission in a private hospital in Hyderabad.
Earlier, raising the issue, the State BJP asked the government to allow the private testing laboratories approved by the ICMR to conduct Covid tests for the people who could afford their services.
