Telangana urges Centre for tourism funds: Tourism Minister V Srinivas Goud
Hyderabad: Tourism Minister V Srinivas Goud on Monday demanded that the Union Ministry of Tourism immediately release funds for the Tourism Circuit, which was taken as part of development of tourism in Telangana.
The Union Tourism Ministry Director-General, Meenakshi Sharma, was on a three-day visit to Telangana to take stock of the development works. Goud met her and put forth some proposals for promotion of tourism in the State. He said the State was becoming a tourism hub under the leadership of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao. The government was constructing the second biggest temple in the country after Tirupati at Yadadri with Rs 100 crore. He urged the official to sanction Rs 50 crore for providing basic facilities to the devotees in Manyamkonda, the biggest temple in erstwhile Mahabubnagar district.
The DG visited tourism places being developed under the Swadesh Darshan initiative in Telangana. She reviewed the works at at Farhabad, Mannnnuru, Uma Maheshwaram and Egalapenta under the EcoTourism Circuit which was taken up under Swadesh Darshan.
She also visited the tourism boating facility at Srisailam back waters, and enquired about the facilities being provided to the devotees in Shakti Peetham Jogulamba. On the third day of her visit on Monday, she visited places like Quli Qutub Shahi Tombs in the city. She complemented the Telangana government for taking up various projects and also the pace of progress. She assured to take steps to release the funds immediately.
