Thunderstorms with lightning to lash State for three days

Hyderabad: The Met department on Monday warned of thunderstorms with lightning lashing very likely at isolated places over Telangana on November 25, 26 and 27. It said heavy rain forecast at isolated places in the State. Extremely heavy rain is very likely to occur at isolated places on November 26, the forecast stated.

According to the bulletin, the rain in likely because of Sunday's low pressure area over the south-west and adjoining south-east Bay of Bengal concentrated into a depression at 2.30 am on November 23. It moved north-westwards and lay centred At 8.30 am over the SW and adjoining SE Bay, about 550 km east-southeast of Puducherry and 590 km south-east of Chennai. It is very likely to intensify into a cyclonic storm during next 24 hours.

The bulletin said the cyclonic storm is very likely to move north-westwards and cross the Tamil Nadu and Puducherry coasts between Karaikal and Mamallapuram around November 25 afternoon as a severe cyclonic storm with a wind speed of 100-110 kmph gusting to 120 kmph. Meanwhile, the night temperatures registered a marked fall by 4.1 degrees Celsius or less at one or two places across Telangana during the last 24 hours ending at 8.30 am on Monday. They fell appreciably ranging from 2.1 to 4 deg C in some parts of the State.

The bulletin said the minimum temperatures were appreciably above normal by 3.1 to 5 deg C at a few places. They were appreciably above normal by 3.1 to 5 deg C in) some parts of the State.

Rainfall of 1 cm occurred at isolated places. The lowest minimum temperature of 13.7 degrees Celsius was recorded in Adilabad.
