Telangana: Treasurer of Warangal press club killed in Mulugu

Bommineni Sunil Reddy (38), treasurer of Warangal press club was brutally killed in a bakery at Pasra in Mulugu district on Monday. Sunil also worked as a photojournalist for several Telugu newspapers.

The assailants attacked Sunil when he was in a bakery along with a friend Devender Reddy. Devender also sustained injuries in the mishap and his condition was said to be critical. The police inspected the spot and shifted the body of Sunil to a hospital for post-mortem.

According to Sunil's family, a man by name Daya has taken Rs 8 lakh loan from one Devender Reddy to open a bakery. After Daya failed to repay the loan to Devender, the latter sought the help of Sunil Reddy. Devender and Sunil went to Pasra to collect the loan amount from Daya. However, Daya said that he has to get the money from a businessman and assured him to repay the loan after it gets it.

However, the duo went to the businessman to enquire if what Daya said was true. The businessman told Sunil that he has nothing to give to Daya following which the two friends returned to the bakery and demanded money.

Fumed over Sunil's behaviour, Daya with the help of his brother attacked both with knives. While Sunil dead on the spot, Devender was injured seriously. The police took Daya and two others into custody. An investigation is underway.
