Telangana Vidyavanthula Vedika releases booklets publicising ill-effects of Uranium mining in Nalgonda

Nalgonda: State former Junior lecturers president MV Gona Reddy said that the need of the hour was to mobilise public opinion against the Uranium mining as it would result in disastrous impact not only on Chenchu tribes, but also on flora and fauna of the region.

On Thursday, he participated as guest to release the booklets published informing the ill-effects of Uranium mining by Telangana Vidyavanthula Vedika (TVV) in Nalgonda. Speaking on the occasion, Gona Reddy said drilling of 4,000 deep borewells would lead to sound, air and water pollution, affecting both surface and groundwater bodies in Krishna river and Nagarjunasagar project.

The TVV and all other associations concerned in this matter have demanded the Central and State governments to roll back their decision of mining Uranium to meet the demands of nuclear plants in the country.

In this programme, Telangana Save Education Committee district convener R Vijay Kumar, retired principal Kasaiah, Democratic Teachers Federation representative Somaiah, TVV representatives Narsimha, Muralidhar, Saidulu and others participated and expressed their support to Chenchu tribes who are agitating against the Uranium mining in Nallamala.
