Telangana will achieve surplus power status soon
Hyderabad: Telangana has reached to the level of sufficient power supply within six years after the formation of the separate State and it will achieve surplus power status soon even as the government was supplying round the clock free power to the farming sector, TSTRANSCO and TSGENCO CMD D Prabhakar Rao said.

Rao said that the total installed power generation capacity has been doubled from 7,700 MW to 15,980 MW including 3600 MW of solar power in six year period. The ongoing Yadadri thermal power project with an installed capacity of 4000 MW and other projects will augment the Telangana's power generation capacity. In next three years, 10000 MW installed power generation capacity will be added to the existing capacity.
The Energy wing was also supplying required power to the one of the largest lift irrigation projects Kaleshwaram, he said, adding that demand for power has been increased to 13,168 MW In 2020 from 5,660 mW at the time of formation of Telangana In 2014.
