Tension prevails at Khammam mirchi yard over minimum bid price
Tension prevailed at Khammam Mirchi yard after the minimum bid amount of chilli was fixed at Rs 13,000 today. The bid amount was fixed at Rs 17,000 per quintal for the last two days has come down by Rs 5,000. The price was kept at Rs 13,000 per quintal.
The Mirchi farmers closed the gates of the market and decided not to sell it today. The market committee chairman Venkataramana who tried to pacify the farmers was surrounded by them. The farmers raised slogans against the committee chairman and demanding remunerative price.
The yard witnessed tense moments when the farmers gheraoed the market yard officials. However, the police who reached the spot dispersed the farmers and has sent Venkataramana to his office.
Later, Venkataramana spoke to the farmers and fixed the 'Jenda Paata' (minimum bid to follow) at Rs 15,000 per quintal.
