Huzurabad: Telangana Farm Labour Association (TFLA) district president Vadla Raju demanded that the government should fix minimum labour charges of farm labourers as Rs 600.

Speaking at a press meet at the Press Bhavan in Huzurabad on Tuesday, Vadla Raju criticised that the Central government is trying to kill the rights of farm labourers by fixing the minimum labour charges as Rs 178. He said the prices of daily commodities are increasing day-by-day and it is becoming hard to meet both the ends for the people of below poverty level and middle class. In such situation, instead of increasing daily wage charges of farm labourers, fixing it at Rs 178 is injustice, he stated.

The Central government is trying to lift the employment act. As part of that, it had fixed the charges as Rs 178 to the farm labourer, he alleged. Raju demanded the government implementation of labour act perfectly along with fixing Rs 600 as the minimum wages to farm labourers. Otherwise, they would intensify the agitation to teach the government a fitting lesson in the coming up days, he warned.

The Association members Emmadia Mahendar, Ramesh, Abilash and Raju were present along with others.
