Third phase ZP polls conclude in Sir­cilla, Jagtial districts

Karimnagar: The third phase of zilla and mandal parishad elections were concluded on a smooth note in Rajanna Sircilla and Jagtial districts.

In the first two phases, elections were for the eight ZPTC and 82 MPTC seats in the eight mandals of the total 13 in Sircilla district; and district, for the 12 ZPTC and 131 MPTC seats in 12 mandals out of the total 18 mandals in Jagtial district.

Out of the three phases of Parishad elections that were announced by the State Election Commission, elections were held for 15 ZPTC and 177 MPTC seats in 15 mandals in Karimnagar and for the 13 ZPTC and 131 MPTC seats in 13 mandals in Peddapalli district in the first and second phases on May 6 (first phase) and on May 10 (second phase).

In the first phase, the elections were held for 23 ZPTC and 323 MPTC seats excluding one ZPTC and six MPTC seats, which were won by the TRS unanimously and in the second phase elections were completed on May 10 for 23 ZPTC and 270 MPTC seats excluding one ZPTC and seven MPTC seats, which the TRS won unanimously.

And in the third and final phase, the election are conducted on Wednesday in 11 mandals present in both Rajanna Sircilla and Jagtial districts for 11 ZPTC seats and 112 MPTC seats. Polling was rather slow at 7 am and in the afternoon due to severe heat in both the districts but gained momentum later and ended by 5 pm.

In Rajanna Sircilla district, polling was held in five mandals of Konaraopet, Chandurthi, Rudrangi, Vemulawada rural and Vemulawada urban with a record of 74.99 percentage of polling in the final phase.

Where as in Jagtial district, 73.06 percentage of polling was recorded in the elections that were held in six mandals of Jagtial urban, Jagtial rural, Malyala, Kodimyala, Gollepalli and Pegadapalli in the last phase.

In Rajanna Sircilla district, the district administration made elaborate arrangements by deploying 1,770 polling staff and set up 227 polling stations in five mandals.

Whereas in Jagtial district, the district administration also made all necessary arrangements and conducted the elections on a smooth note by deploying 2,692 polling staff and set up 380 polling stations at various locations in six mandals where the final phase elections held.
