Three held, notices issued to 16 tele-callers for cheating public in hyderabad
Hyderabad: The officials of Cybercrime police station, DD, Hyderabad on Friday arrested three persons identified as Soma Roka (26), Arnabsur (26) and Mohammed Imran (23), natives of belong Kolkata, on charges of operating a call centre in the name of Saha Enterprises and cheating innocents.
The accused hired about 20 lady tele-callers in the name of online dating. The police said that on May 7 they received a complaint in which the complainant stated that on April 25 he received a call from an unknown number who introduced herself as Ritika, calling from love arts.
The tele-caller told the complainant that they will provide girls for online dating. When the complainant showed interest, they asked him to pay a sum of Rs 1,025 for registration through online mode. Later, the complainant received a call from another person who asked him to send his photo and address for membership purpose.
Later, another lady called and asked him to pay a sum of Rs 18,000 for this membership and told that the said amount would be refundable to him. After receiving all the details, the tele-callers allegedly threatened the complainant that his photos and ID's are available on online dating sites and the police will come catch him.
They further threatened the complainant to deposit Rs 75,000 and later Rs 1.20 lakh to evade any legal complications.
