TJS to contest from 4 LS segments
Hyderabad: Telangana Jana Samithi (TJS) will be contesting in four segments including Nizamabad, Karimnagar and Malkajgiri in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections scheduled for April 11 in Telangana.
Discussions are on regarding the fourth seat and it is likely to be finalised in the next two-three days. Elaborating details in a press meet at party office in Nampally on Wednesday, TJS chief Prof Kodandaram stated that his party would extend support to Congress candidates in the remaining 13 segments.
When asked if TJS would think of extending support to CPI, he said the Left Party did not approach them in this connection as yet. He said that no discussions were held with any party regarding alliance for Lok Sabha polls. Kodandaram said that they have chosen the four segments where the party has formed some base in the last one year or so. "The TJS's objectives and future goals can be reached only if the party enters electoral fray and accordingly the decision to contest was taken in party meetings, that are continuing from March 6," Kodandaram said.
He further stated that the TJS was preparing a manifesto that will be a mix of their previous manifesto (prepared for assembly polls) and some key points from Reclaiming Republic manifesto worked out by Yogendra Yadav of Swaraj India, a close ally of TJS at the national level.
