Tourists throng Nagarjunasagar as inflows continue from Srisailam

Nagarjunasagar (Nalgonda): The huge inflows from Srisailam into Nagarjunasagar project had continued on the second day on Tuesday. All 26 radial crust gates of Nagarjunasagar project were kept open and 5.67 lakh cusecs water including 5.34 lakh cusecs from crest gates, 32,592 cusecs through main pumphouse and 2,400 cusecs to Alimineti Madhava Reddy project were released. The water level in the project reached 268.11 tmcft at 570.64 feet against full reservoir level of 320 tmcft at 590 feet.

District Collector Gaurav Uppal, in a press release, appealed to the people of low-lying areas to take all precautionary measures as the inflows continue into Sagar project. He also appealed to the fishermen to not to go for fishing and urged people not to go boating as water level reached 5.70 lakh cusecs.

He informed that Joint collector Chandra Shekar had already held a meeting with officials of all departments including irrigation, revenue, forest, police, municipal and others and discussed the water inflows besides precautionary measures to be taken and issued necessary orders to be alert and attend to any exigencies that might arise.

Meanwhile, a large number of tourists thronged the Nagarjunasagar to witness its beauty on Tuesday.
