Hyderabad: The core committee of Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) would meet on Sunday to discuss the ensuing municipal elections at Sangareddy with the district leaders.

The meeting is the second one following the meeting at Nagarjuna Sagar during last month.

In the first core committee meeting, it was decided to hold the executive meetings of the TPCC at the district headquarters every month and the second meeting was proposed to be held at Sangareddy.

TPCC president N Uttam Kumar Reddy would preside over the meeting and party in-charge general secretary RC Khuntia and three in-charge secretaries would be the guests.

The meetings would have three sessions and in the first session discussions would be held with the leaders of Sangareddy, Medak, Siddipet, Rangareddy, Vikarabad, Medchal, Mahbubnagar, Nagarkurnool, Wanaparthy, Narayanapet, and Gadwal districts.

Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Kamareddy, Jagtial, Peddapalli, Karimnagar, and Sircilla leaders would participate in the second session. In the third session Suryapet, Nalgonda, Bhongir, Jangaon, Mahabubabad, Warangal Rural, Mulugu, Kothagudem and Khammam district leaders would participate.

Along with the core committee members, presidents of the town and city Congress committees, district Congress committees, MLAs, MPs, former Ministers, former MLAs, former MLCs and other senior leaders will attend the meeting.

The Congress has already appointed a committee for overseeing the preparations for the municipal elections. The three men committee has held discussions with the local leaders.

The core committee would discuss the preparedness of the party in each municipality and corporation. The State leadership would assess the strengths and weaknesses of the party in each civic body. The leaders of the municipality and corporations would be given advices on the steps to be taken to win the polls.

The committee would also identify the issues being faced by the residents of the urban local bodies and would prepare the campaign strategy. Along with local issues the problems being faced by people in all the ULBs would be discussed.

Congress leaders said the party is firm on winning the municipal polls in a big way to rejuvenate the party which is low on morale after losing the Assembly and Parliament elections.

They said the party needs a boost to gain the confidence and the municipal elections are a good opportunity. They said the urban people were angry with the government and this would favour the Congress.

A senior leader of the party said the ruling TRS could intimidate the rural voters and make gains. But this was not possible in the ULB elections as the voters would be educated and most of them belong to middle class.
