Trouble brewing in T-Congress as party bigwigs likely to join BJP

Hyderabad: Is the Congress party likely to be further decimated in Telangana? If the developments within the party are any indication then it appears that soon some prominent leaders like Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy, his brother Venkat Reddy and former MP G Vivek may take a decision to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Komatireddy brothers feel that if leaders like AICC general secretary Ramachandra Khuntia, who is in charge of Telangana, and N Uttam Kumar Reddy continue to lead the party, then it would not come to power even in 2024.

They feel that while AICC representative had failed to rejuvenate the party, Uttam Kumar Reddy had failed to put the party rank and file in a battle mode to take on the TRS party and its chief K Chandrashekar Rao.

Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy said he has not yet taken any decision to switch sides. He said he would consult his followers before making any such announcement.

Rajagopal also blamed the AICC for not being able to guide the State unit properly.

He said what is worse is now senior party leader V Hanumantha Rao and former TPCC chief Ponnala Lakshmaiah are trying to become the TPCC presidents.

He expressed his displeasure even over the way the leader of Congress Legislature party Bhatti Vikramarka was functioning. If he had spoken one on one with all the Congress MLAs and created confidence among them that he and the party would stand by them, they would not have joined TRS.

If the party high command continues to ignore the State party, then it was certain that the BJP would fill the vacuum and would emerge as the only alternative to the TRS. In such a scenario it would be but natural that most of the leaders would look towards the BJP as they do not see any future here. Asked if he had met BJP leader Ram Madhav, Rajagopal said that he did not meet anyone from BJP.

In the backdrop of this scenario, speculations are making rounds in the political circles that Komatireddy brothers, A Revanth Reddy and G Vivek would soon join the BJP. It is being said they will join BJP in the presence of Amit Shah when he would visit Hyderabad in July.

Shah is likely to address public meeting here. It may be mentioned here that before the just concluded elections Congress MLC Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy and former minister D K Aruna had joined the BJP.
