TRS, BJP embrace social media with gusto

Hyderabad: As the State is gearing up for yet another election, the social media is abuzz with allegations and counter-allegations with political parties of all hues flocking the cyberspace.

The social media war has intensified especially between two major forces – the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) – as their leaders and activists

are busy attacking and counterattacking on policies and unfulfilled promises on various platforms.

While the BJP leaders are targeting the government on unfulfilled promises made by the TRS, the ruling party leaders are countering it with the latest promises of the saffron party leaders like waiver of traffic challans on social media platforms like WhatsApp and Facebook.

BJP State president Bandi Sanjay's recent announcement that all vehicle challans would be waived off, triggered a fight between the two political parties. Party activists shared the videos of popular comedian Bhitri Satti which shows a drunken Satti arguing with traffic police stating BJP chief Bandi Sanjay was behind him and his challans would be waived off.

To counter this, the BJP activists released videos about the promises of the TRS government. The video had old video clippings of TRS corporators demanding money for allowing illegal building constructions and encroaching lands in Hyderabad. They also released an old video of TRS MLA A Gandhi who said that people coming from Pakistan would not be sent back until he was alive. The TRS activists forwarded the video of attack on a journalist in the BJP party office. The video went viral on social media in which a person was holding the collar and slapping a video journalist in the party State office.

The social media war has become a hot topic among the people as both the parties are trying to expose each other with viral videos. MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha, in a recent interaction with the media had alleged the BJP of indulging in fake campaigns. She said that the TRS was also readying its social media to counter fake news of the BJP activists.
