TRS Govt has no accountability, commitment towards people: Gudur
Hyderabad: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) Treasurer Gudur Narayana Reddy on Thursday said that there was the complete absence of administration, Law & Order, financial discipline, commitment and accountability towards people in the first year of TRS Government's second term in power in Telangana.
Gudur Narayana Reddy, in a media statement, said that KCR started his second term by inducting just one minister in his cabinet. This two-member cabinet functioned for over three months and it took almost 10 months for KCR to form a full-fledged cabinet with two expansions. "At the beginning of his second term itself, KCR gave a clear message that his government will be a dictatorship and one-man show. Even now, it is only KCR family which has all the powers and even ministers are not empowered to meet the Chief Minister without pre-approval. This form of government has badly hurt the public interest as several issues remained unaddressed," he said.
The TPCC leader said that the Chief Minister took several decisions unilaterally which killed the very significance of Legislature and Executive. He said entire Secretariat has been vacated on the pretext of constructing a new building. All departments were scattered in a way that they became inaccessible to people. "The Chief Minister does not meet common people at Pragathi Bhavan and even ministers and ruling party MLAs have limited access to KCR's official residence. All official meetings are held at Pragathi Bhavan where media has no direct access. Almost all official communication is done through the Press Releases approved by the Chief Minister's Office. This is the worst form of government India has ever seen in its history," he said.
Gudur Narayana Reddy said that the last year has been worst in the known history of Telangana. "Hundreds of farmers committed suicide due to various reasons. Innocent intermediate students committed suicide due to evaluation scam. Many women were raped and brutally murdered. Hundreds of people were affected with Dengue, Malaria and other diseases and many of them died. Nearly 50,000 RTC workers were mentally and economically tortured and more than 30 of them died due to heart attacks and suicide," he said adding that the Chief Minister remained non-responsive to these tragedies.
The Congress leader alleged that KCR has murdered the democracy in Telangana by buying out MLAs of opposition parties. "Despite winning 88 seats in 2018 elections, KCR engineered defection of 12 Congress MLAs to strip the party of main opposition status," he said.
Gudur Narayana Reddy said that the performance of TRS in the first year was so bad that it could not be rated. KCR's behaviour and arrogance is also an indication his remaining term might prove to be a curse on people of Telangana, he said.
