TRS govt made farming profitable: Minister Errabelli

Mulugu: The State government has been giving utmost importance to agriculture sector, Minister for Panchayat Raj Errabelli Dayakar Rao and Minister for Tribal Welfare Minister Satyavathi Rathod said, addressing at the Mulugu Zilla Parishad General Body meeting on Saturday.

The Ministers claimed that the TRS government has become a beacon for other States in the country. Referring to the upcoming biennial Sammakka Saralamma Jatara in Medaram, Satyavathi Rathod said that even though the State was witnessing economic slowdown, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao earmarked Rs 75 crore to ensure arrangements for the jatara. Since TRS came to power, it allocated Rs 120 crore in 2015 and Rs 85 crore in 2017 for biennial jataras, she said. The government has plans to acquire 200 acres for the tribal jatara, she added.

The harvesting will be over by the time the jatara commences, she said, adding that they have plans to allocate 1,500 acres for the parking facility at Medaram. Some space would be allocated in the parking place for the local farmers to put up stalls. It would help their economy, she added.

Speaking on the occasion, Errabelli Dayakar Rao urged the people to notice the difference between the previous governments in the undivided Andhra Pradesh and of the TRS since 2014. "The TRS government made every effort to make agriculture profitable," Errabelli said, referring to the welfare schemes and programmes launched in their regime.

He said that the government made Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project (KLIP) possible in a record time besides ensuring 24-hour power supply to farm sector. "KCR introduced 'Palle Pragathi', also known as 30-day action plan, to ensure all round development of the gram panchayats. Besides giving impetus on sanitation, the government has plans to set up graveyards and dumping yards in every panchayat," he said. Based on the performance of gram panchayats, the government will provide funds for the construction of own buildings, he said.

Later, the both Ministers, Mulugu MLA Seethakka, Mahabubabad MP Maloth Kavitha, Mulugu ZP chairperson Kusuma Jagadish and District Collector C Narayana Reddy participated in the programme organised for the distribution of tractors to Gram Panchayats.
