TRS in a bind over action against DS

Hyderabad: Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) is in a catch-22 situation when it comes to take disciplinary action against senior leader and Rajya Sabha member D Srinivas, He is the father of BJP MP from Nizamabad Dharmapuri Arvind.

The party leaders believe that the BJP may not take swift action against Srinivas even if a complaint is lodged against him.

The leaders believe that Arvind may use his influence to ensure that there is no action against his father.

The TRS leaders, especially those from Nizamabad, have been reeling under the shock over the defeat of the sitting MP and Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao's daughter K Kavitha.

The TRS leaders have felt that Srinivas had contributed his mite to the victory of Arvind. "Arvind is new in politics and it is Srinivas who prepared ground for his son's victory by using his contacts in the Congress," said a senior TRS leader.

According to sources, the TRS leaders had given a report to the party chief explaining the reasons for the defeat of the party in Nizamabad. The leaders are said to have complained against the TRS Rajya Sabha member.

It may be recalled here that the Nizamabad leaders of the party had demanded in June last year that the TRS president take disciplinary action against Srinivas, alleging that he was supporting his son. The Nizamabad leaders had also alleged that Srinivas had been putting pressure on party workers to work for BJP.

According to sources, the TRS leaders have remained undecided as to whether make a complaint to the Chairman of Rajya Sabha against Srinivas.

"Even if we complain, the BJP may not take action. The saffron party needs numbers in the House. His son may use his influence to ensure that there is no action against his father," the leaders said.
