TRS membership for 15-month-old kid?

Warangal: The alleged enrolment of a 15-month-old kid as a member of Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) created a flutter here in political circles. The membership receipt of the kid is being trolled in the social networking platforms.

The receipt shows that Esampelli Aayan Lijoy, who was born on March 21, 2018, a resident of Kothawada in Warangal East Assembly segment, was enrolled as an active member of the TRS party by paying the required fee.

While the Congress points it out as a gimmick adopted by the ruling TRS to flex its muscles by inflating membership figures, the TRS denies that it had no reason to do so. The former corporator of 28th Division Elagam Srinu, who is entrusted with the responsibility of conducting membership drive in the area, said that one of the membership receipts books was missing and the miscreants created a fake receipt in the name of a kid.

He said that it's a plot hatched by the Opposition parties to blame the ruling TRS. He also released a video clipping of Aayan's grandfather Saraiah who said his grandson's photo was stolen.

Jealous over the huge response for the TRS party membership drive, the Opposition party leaders have released a fake membership in the name of a boy, he said. On the other hand, the Opposition leaders played it down as a baseless allegation.

Senior Congress leader Chippa Venkateswarlu pointed out why the TRS leaders did not lodge a police complaint if they had lost/stolen a membership receipt book. "This is nothing but an effort to inflate the figures of memberships.
