TRS Senior Leader Kamatham Ram Reddy Passes Away At 83
Telangana Rashtra Samithi party's senior leader Kamatham Ram Reddy passed away in the early hours of Saturday at the age of 83. This senior leader of TRS party was suffering from the age-related illness from a few months and passed away at his home today morning. Telangana Chief Minister KCR expressed grief over Kamatham Ram Reddy's demise. KCR recalled his association with Rami Reddy on this occasion and also paid tribute to this senior leader and also expressed profound sympathy to his family members.
In the past, Kamatham Ram Reddy joined the BJP after the Congress party refused him a ticket and lost in the 2014 election. In that election, TDP and BJP both were on an understanding basis and thus Ram Reddy contested for the assembly from Parigi on behalf of the alliance. However, then lost and got only 13,000 votes in this election. He then joined the TRS party from the BJP during the 2018 elections. He is currently staying away from politics due to age-related issues.
Kamath Ramreddy had previously served as a minister under three Congress Chief Ministers Jalgam Venkalarao, Nedurumalli Janardhan Reddy and Kotla Vijayabhaskar Reddy.
Kamatham Ram Reddy first stood in the 1967 elections and won the constituency as an independent candidate at Parigi constituency. He later won as a Congress candidate in 1972 and 1989 from the same constituency. Ram Reddy was elected as MLC in 1980. He served as Chief Whip in 1968, Minister of Civil Supplies in the Jalagam Vengala Rao's Cabinet in 1977, Minister of Marketing and Warehousing in the cabinet of Nedumali Janardhan Reddy in 1991 and Minister of Revenue in the Kotla Vijayabaskar Reddy Cabinet in 1992. Several leaders mourned for the sudden demise of Kamatham Ram Reddy. However, Ram Reddy's funeral will be held in Mohammedabad, Mahabubnagar.
