TRS shifts focus on ZPTC polls

Hyderabad: With the curtains coming down on Parliament elections, TRS is shifting its focus to the next challenge coming in the form of MPTC and ZPTC polls. TRS chief K Chandrashekar Rao has called for an extended meeting of the party on April 15 to discuss winning strategies in the local body polls.

The meeting will be held at Telangana Bhavan from 2.30 pm onwards on Monday. Besides State Committee members, ministers, legislators, former ministers and legislators, Rajya Sabha MPs, Lok Sabha contested candidates, corporation chairmen and other senior leaders have been extended invitations to attend the key meeting.

Meanwhile, TRS working president KT Rama Rao convened an urgent meeting with party general secretaries on Saturday evening to discuss about the upcoming local bodies polls. He said that securing 33 zilla parishad posts in all 33 districts should be their target besides winning 560 mandal praja parishad seats.

According to KTR, Congress and other opposition parties have been rejected by the voters in the previous and recent elections and same fate would beckon them even in the elections to local bodies.

KTR said that election notification might be expected in the next one week or ten days since the government communicated their preparedness to the State Election Commission (SEC). Hence, the rank and file of the party and all leaders should be geared up for the next challenge, he stressed.

KTR felt that extensive campaigning for more than a month for Lok Sabha polls meant TRS reached out up to the grass-root level. This, he said, would stand them in good stead and ensure TRS victory in MPTC and ZPTC elections.

The TRS working president also reviewed cadre preparedness in each of the districts with the general secretaries. He wanted the party functionaries to maintain the same tempo and spirit shown in assembly and parliament elections.
