TRS' silence on GHMC poll show review baffles netas
Hyderabad: It has been a fortnight since the announcement of the results of GHMC the TRS has not reviewed or analysed the reasons for the poor performance of the party in Greater Hyderabad elections and the leaders are a confused lot as to what was happening in the party.
After facing the drubbing in Dubbaka, the ruling TRS had to face embarrassment in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation elections as the party's tally has gone down from 99 to 56 and it could only manage to become the single largest party. The BJP on the other hand made a dent into the vote bank of the ruling party by winning 48 divisions which is 44 more from the previous elections.
The TRS leaders had announced to deeply analyse the reasons for the loss of the party in the elections. However, there were no meetings of the party except for the one to one meeting of the corporators with the TRS working president KT Rama Rao. The TRS leader had addressed some of the important leaders while meeting the corporators.
The leaders are said to be in confusion as nothing was happening in the party for some time. There has been silence after the Delhi visit of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao. There was no clarity as to what the party would do in GHMC as there is no talk of mayor election. Party sources said that the party would like to maintain the status quo for some time without staking claim on the post of mayor as term of the existing body is till February 10.
A senior leader said that party would certainly deliberate about the reasons for the loss. The party did not take the defeat in Dubbaka seriously and underestimated the opponents and the party had to face humiliation in the GHMC, he said. He also said that the party would have to take corrective measures as there are more elections in the coming days including the Nagarjunasagar bypoll. Apart from the bypoll, the elections for Warangal and Khammam corporations are also due in the next three months.
