Hyderabad: Facing criticism on the construction issue of Secretariat and Assembly buildings, TRS on Tuesday alleged that the opposition parties are trying to divert the people's attention from success of Kaleshwaram project.

Addressing a press conference, TRS MLC Karne Prabhakar said that the government would construct the new Secretariat and Assembly buildings like it had completed the Kaleshwaram project.

"Complaining to the Governor on the government's proposal to construct new Secretariat is a vicious attempt by the opposition.

It is shameful to have such an opposition in Telangana. We will construct the new Secretariat and Assembly like we completed Kaleshwaram," said Prabhakar.

People of the State are treating Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao as god and appreciating the government for completing Kaleshwaram project in three years and the opposition parties are unable to digest this and misleading the people, said Prabhakar.

The TRS leader said that the existing Assembly does not have enough infrastructure and there is scarcity of rooms even for standing committees and whips.

The existing Assembly is in an area of seven acres. The government wants to have Assembly with all facilities but the Congress and its 'friendly' parties are targeting the government, alleged Prabhakar.

The Secretariat too lack space as there is no place for HoDs of some departments. The government is spending Rs 32 crore every year as rent for offices in different places in the city, he said.

The TRS leader said that the Congress and BJP which fight in New Delhi have turned into friendly parties in Hyderabad. Both the parties should answer to the people about their principles.

The BJP governments are spending crores of rupees on statues whereas in Telangana the new Secretariat and Assembly buildings are being constructed for people of the State.
