TS, AP ministers release water from NSP

Nagarjuna Sagar (Nalgonda): Following heavy inflows from Srisailam on Sunday, TS Minister for Education G Jagadish Reddy and AP Irrigation Minister Anil Kumar Yadav released water to left and right canals of Nagarjuna Sagar Project for irrigation purpose for the two Telugu States.

As many as 10 lakh acres of agriculture lands in Nalgonda, Suryapet and Khammam districts will get irrigation water through Sagar left canal.

The Ministers also released water to lift irrigation schemes of the State, which include AMRP canals. About 11 lakh acres of land in Andhra Pradesh will get irrigation facility through Sagar right canal.

Rajya Sabha member B Lingaiah Yadav, local MLA Nomula Narasimhaiah, MLCs G Sukhender Reddy, T Chinnapa Reddy, MLAs R Ravindra Kumar, Bhaskar Rao and others were present on the occasion.

The officials of NSP are making necessary arrangements to open the crust gates of Nagarjuna Sagar project on Monday as the inflow have reached seven lakh cusecs from Srisailam dam.
