TS, AP officials spar over excess use of Krishna water
Hyderabad: Ahead of Krishna River Management Board (KRMB) meeting to be held this month, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh State governments locked horns over excess utilisation of river Krishna waters at a meeting attended by Irrigation officials of the two States here.
Engineers from Telangana Irrigation department presented a report that AP utilised excess waters from Pothireddypadu Head regulator, KC canal, Nagarjunasagar Project (NSP) left canal and under Krishna Delta System (KDS).
The officials argued that AP was using waters more than the KRMB allocated to the neighbouring State.
The AP officials clarified that it used excess water from NSP left canal only and the claims made by Telangana are false.
As the officials of the two States failed to arrive at a conclusion on the utilisation of water, AP and Telangana decided to hold a meeting of Engineer-in-Chiefs on October 15.
