Hyderabad: Telangana and Andhra Pradesh heads of the State police forces locked horns over the long pending division of police staff at a meeting conducted by Governor ESL Narasimhan here on Monday.

Telangana Director General of Police M Mahendar Reddy strongly objected the seniority list prepared by the AP government unilaterally without following the mutually agreed rules by the two States.

It may be mentioned here that the allocation of Deputy Superintendents of Police (DySPs) between AP and TS has not yet been finalised as per the AP Reorganisation Act.

It got further complicated with the seniority list prepared by the AP government unilaterally. The issue has also been brought to the notice of the Union government by the Telangana government.

The Telangana DGP pointed out that the revised and finalised seniority list of Home Department staff especially DySPs is against the agreed procedures between the two States and also against the rules, mentioned in Rule 34 of AP Subordinate Service Rules 1996.

While AP DGP RP Thakur maintained that the senior list has been prepared in accordance with the prescribed rules only.

Taking note of the delay, the Governor instructed the two DGPs to sort out the issue at the earliest as many of the senior officials are set to retire soon and their services will not be counted if the process is delayed further.
