TS government inks pact with NHS-UK

Hyderabad: Telangana Overseas Manpower Company Limited (TOMCOM) on Monday signed a MoU with UK-based National Health Service (NHS) to establish a global platform for health education and workforce development in Telangana.

The main aim of the agreement is to establish an 'Earn, Learn and Return' programme for nurses to work in the NHS-UK for a period of three years.

Health Education England (HEE) is the UK government's body responsible for the NHS's workforce and education and has been assessing ways to improve the experience of nurses from other countries migrating to the NHS.

Professor Ged Byrne, Director of Global Engagement at Health Education England, who is leading the visiting HEE delegation said: "The NHS is determined to ensure that nurses, who want to work in the NHS can access jobs ethically, without the extra charges or false promises that we know some of the more unscrupulous agencies often make.

All the necessary training is provided for free and also administrative support." KY Naik, Director, Employment & Training, Managing Director–TOMCOM signed the agreement on behalf of the Telangana government.

State Home Secretary Rajiv Trivedi and other officials were also present.
