TS leads housing for poor in country: KTR
Vanasthalipuram: Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister KT Rama Rao inaugurated 324 2BHK houses at Jai Bhavani Nagar here on Wednesday. Addressing a meeting on the occasion, he said that no other State or city in the country was taking up such a massive housing programme as in Hyderabad.
He said that the State government was taking up the construction of one lakh 2BHK houses at a cost of Rs 9,714 crore. "These 324 houses were constructed at a cost of Rs 28 crore and I congratulate the beneficiaries. I hope that the residents will ensure good sanitation and upkeep of their home," he said.
KTR said that the government has spent Rs 9 lakh on each house while the market value of the same unit could range to Rs 40-50 lakhs. "It was the responsibility of house owners to maintain the community area clean and not to dump trash. With the COVID-19 pandemic still a threat it was important to maintain cleanliness on the premises," he added. KTR and Minister of Education, P Sabitha Indra Reddy handed over the keys of 2BHK beneficiaries.
According to officials, houses were built with an aim to provide healthy urban living environment with basic infrastructural facilities for the poor people at free of cost. In 2 acres, the houses were constructed in three blocks on a cellar+stilt+9 floors. Each unit has a plinth of 560 sft. As many as 188 houses were allotted on the occasion. Each flat has living room, 2 bedrooms, kitchen,2 bathroom-cum-toilets.
Facilities provided in the site include rain water harvesting structure, fire safety system, lifts, lightning arrest system among others. Chairperson of Musi River Front Development Corporation, D Sudheer Reddy, Mayor, Bonthu Ram mohan and GHMC Commissioner Lokesh Kumar and a number of MLCs and Corporators were present.
