TS Minority Commission plans national conference in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: The TS Minority Commission which is intending to organise the proposed a two-day national conference on minorities issues has sought permission from Secretary to Government, Minority Welfare Department. It has also requested the department to sanction Rs 20 lakh for meeting the expenses.

On Monday a meeting was convened under the Chairmanship of Mohammed Qamaruddin, Chairman of TS Minorities Commission. Vice Chairman B Shanker Luke, Members Mohd Arshad Ali Khan, Bommala Kattaiah, Dr Vidya Sravanthi, Gusti Noria, Surender Singh and M A Azeem, Secretary Harish Chander Sahu, Private Secretary T Gopal Rao, and Additional Private Secretary M A Khadeer Siddiqui were present.

During the meeting, the Chairman explained to the members that the intention of the Commission to conduct the 2-day National Conference on minorities issues had been informed to the Secretary of Minority Welfare through a letter with a request to accord permission to conduct Conference and also to sanction Rs 20 lakhs for meeting the expenses.

With regard to the receipt and disposal of petitions, the Chairman explained that altogether 1,003 cases were received up to December 2019 and 107 cases were received during the current year from January 1 to March 16, making a total of 1,110 cases. Out of which 910 cases have been disposed of leaving a balance of 200 cases. The percentage of disposal was coming to 82%, he noted.
