TSBB, NGC promotes eco-friendly Ganeshas
Hyderabad: Telangana State Biodiversity Board (TSBDB) in collaboration with National Green Corps, Lee Shreyas Foundation and Druvansh NGO is organizing awareness campaign on promoting the usage of eco-friendly Ganesha across the state of Telangana. In this context, the board has planned workshops, seminars at different school, colleges and communities across the state of Telangana. The board is also promoting the eco-friendly immersion program to conserve the aquatic biodiversity of Telangana.
TSBDB will conduct several programs at the district level to create awareness about Ganesh idols that are often decorated with toxic paints which contains heavy metals such as lead and mercury which seeps into the water after the idol immersion and adds to the acidic level of water which is not good for the environment and marine life. Thus clay Ganesha is the only best solution for the problem.
TSBDB is also taking the initiative to promote the significance of 21 varieties of leaves used for Ganesha puja and its medicinal values during these workshops to the students at schools & colleges. Several workshops and awareness programs on Biodiversity and its conservation have been conducted throughout the State, according to a press release.
