TSBIE pours cold water on claims of Inter 'toppers'

Hyderabad: Are claims made by some students as toppers in the Intermediate Public Examinations– 2019 (IPE-2019) false?

Following several schools and students have made claims as toppers in the IPE-2019, the Telangana State Board of Intermediate Education (TSBIE) on Friday dismissed the declaration of some students of first and second years of IPE-2019 as not correct.

According to the Board officials, it has neither announced the names of any rankers nor authenticated any data on the basis of which some could claim to be toppers in the IPE-2019 results which were declared on April 19.

It may be mentioned here that the Board has adopted it as a policy to do away with the practice of announcing the ranks for the students qualifying in the IPE examinations a couple of years ago.

Since then, the Board has been announcing only the overall pass percentage; the pass percentages of the boys and girls, the district-wise and school management-wise pass percentages.

Speaking to The Hans India, a board official said, "Some are claiming that a particular student is a topper on the basis of the marks scored by him or her in the IPE-2019. But there is no guarantee that the same marks are not scored by another student in some other institution and in some other place in the State."

Hence, the claims doing rounds of branch-wise, district-wise toppers in the first and second years of IPE-2019 examinations is not based on any authentic data given by the Board, he added.
