TSRTC prepares to operate buses in Khammam
Khammam: Road Transport Corporation (RTC) officials are preparing to operate buses once they get instructions from the government.
As part of it they are readying buses which are kept idle since the lock down came into effect in the month of March. Officials have convened meeting with employees of the workshop and instructed them to check batteries life and if charging is needed and also condition of tyres.
According to workshop officials all buses were checked and kept in condition to operate. According to officials the Khammam region has 630 buses and every day transport about 5 to 6 lakhs commuters to their destination. Since lock down all buses are confined to bus depots.
Khammam region has 5 depots in Khammam, Sattupalli, Manugur, Kothagudem, Bhadrachalam and Madhira. Due to lockdown the region is losing Rs 80 lakh everyday.
Khammam RTC regional manager SV Krishna Murthy said ''we have not received any instructions from higher officials as if now about operating buses''.
However we are keeping all buses in condition as precautionary measures and once we get instructions ready to operate buses.
Transport Minister Puvvada Ajay Kumar said Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao would take decision on operation of buses. He said when more districts turn into green zones then more chances to operate buses.
But people in both districts are waiting for buses to run as they face a lot of difficulties.
