TSRTC to ply 4,980 buses to ease Sankranti rush

Hyderabad: The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) will operate 4,980 buses to various towns in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh to clear the rush of passengers during Sankranti festival. The buses would be operated from January 8 till Sankranti. As many as 1,600 buses would be operated to different places in Andhra Pradesh and 3,380 to different towns in Telangana, said TSRTC Ranga Reddy Regional Manager B Varaprasad. In order to avoid traffic jam on various routes leading to Mahatma Gandhi Bus Station (MGBS) and also in and around MGBS, the Corporation has planned to operate special buses as well as scheduled buses from MGBS, Old CBS, JBS, Lingampally, Miyapur crossroad, KPHB, Ameerpet, Telephone Bhavan, LB Nagar, Aramghar, ECIL crossroad, Jeedimetla, Tarnaka and Uppal crossroads from January 9 to 12. Special facilities have been set up at these points to monitor the operation of buses and about 200 officers and employees have been deployed.

The buses would be operated from different locations instead of MGBS to avoid crowding at the bus station. The buses going towards Nalgonda, Miryalaguda and Vijayawada would start from LB Nagar, buses towards Warangal and Yadadri would start from Uppal crossroads and buses going towards Mahbubnagar would start from Aramghar.

In case of passengers unknowingly coming to MGBS, they would be ferried through the city buses and there would be one bus for every 10 minutes. The buses going towards Adilabad, Nizamabad and Karimnagar would start from Jubilee Bus Station. The Corporation has provided online reservation facility for the long distance buses.
