TWJF gets support from TJSS
Mahbubnagar: The members of Telangana Working Journalist Union, who are on a hunger strike for the last 11 days, received support from the Telangana Journalist Sankshema Sangam (TJSS) on Thursday and pressed the government to immediately look into the demands of the journalists and resolve them at the earliest.
While speaking at the relay hunger strike camp of journalists in Mahbubnagar on Thursday, Anam Chinni Venkateshwar Rao, president of the TJSS, Telangana State said that it is unfortunate that the State government is ignoring the welfare of the journalists, who fought for achieving a separate State.
"The role of journalists cannot be ignored in the Telangana movement. However, after formation of Telangana State, the State government has completely ignored the welfare of the journalists as many of them in the rural areas have been denied accreditation cards and not given health cards.
Today, they have come on to the roads seeking justice from the government and conveying their protest by conducting relay hunger strike.
"Therefore, we from TJSS have come forward to support their protest and if the government does not respond we will further intensify our stir," said Venkateshwara Rao.
The TJSS president expressed his dissent at the local minister, for ignoring the journalists. He also demanded that the district public relations officer, who is behaving in a partial manner to some and ignoring others be suspended.
TJSS state assistant secretary MD Khajapasha said that the government must immediately withdraw the GO 239 which is against the rural journalists, because of which many local journalists have been deprived of accreditation and health cards. The TWJU and TJSS leaders urged the local Minister Srinivas Goud to resolve their issues.
