Two boys drown in pond in Mancherial

Two boys aged about 14 and 8 years old drowned in a pond near Rechini village in Thandur mandal on Thursday evening. But, the incident came to light on Friday after the bodies were found floating in the well.

The police who learned the incident rushed to the spot and fished out the bodies. The bodies were sent for post-mortem to Bellampalli government hospital.

Getting into details, Muriki Tirumal (14) and his cousin Mahesh (8) went out of the home on Thursday evening after their parents asked them to look after the lambs. The two boys noticed a pond and decided to have fun by swimming in it. Unaware of the depth, the two boys who did not know swimming ventured into the pond and drowned.

The parents grew suspicious and launched a hunt after their children did not return home. The bodies were found in the midnight. Tirumal, a class 9 student was the son of Shankar and Mahesh, a class 6 student was the son of Rajanna. Both Shankar and Rajanna were brothers.

Based on the complaint of Tirumal's father Shankar, the police registered a suspicious death case and launched a probe.
