Two fancy vehicle numbers fetch Rs 1.13Lakh in e-bidding
Hyderabad: The Transport department collected Rs 1.13 lakh through e-bidding of fancy registration numbers as two numbers were sold through the new process introduced on Monday.
The online process was opened in five RTA offices including Khairatabad, Secunderabad, Mehdipatnam, Malakpet and Bandlaguda. "The online was opened up for two hours from 2 pm to 4 pm and there were no technical issues during the period," said Joint Transport Commissioner C Ramesh.
A vehicle owner had opted for registration number 6555 in Secunderabad RTA and another vehicle owner had opted for 2609 in Khairatabad RTA. The amount collected was Rs 1,13,300 from the two RTA offices in the city.
The vehicle owners can book their desired registration numbers without coming to the RTA offices. Till now the applicants used to come to the RTA office and drop an envelope containing demand draft quoting an amount for desired fancy number.
The authorities used to allocate the number after verifying the other applications. However, with the e-bidding process, the vehicle owners can select the desired number and quote a price and send it to the RTA online along with a fee of Rs 5,000.
The applicants will have to submit a copy of Aadhaar and PAN card along with the application.
