Two posing as cops rob gold shop worker in Hyderabad

Two people posing as cops robbed a gold shop worker and made away with Rs 2.9 lakh worth gold ornaments on Tuesday evening at Madannapet. The incident came to light on Wednesday when the police registered a case and launched a hunt.

According to the Madannapet police, Sabrata Samanta (26) who works in the gold shop of his brother-in-law at Shyamlal near Charminar had given the ornaments for cutting and moulding in another gold shop at Ghansi Bazar on Tuesday morning. He collected the ornaments in the evening and was returning to the shop on the scooter when the duo posing as cops intercepted him on another scooter.

One of the offenders took Sabrata's scooter and made him to pillion ride while the other accused followed them. They took him to a petrol bunk and asked to withdraw cash from ATM to fill the fuel in the scooter. When Sabrata refused, they slapped him and forced to withdraw Rs 10,000.

After collecting the money, the offenders took the ornaments, a mobile phone and fled away on Sabrata's scooter. Based on the complaint of Sabrata and his brother-in-law, the police registered a case and are investigating.
