Under-bridge works on the fast track in Warangal
Warangal: The widening of the narrow under the bridge near Warangal railway station, which has been a cause of worry for over six decades, Warangal East MLA Nannapuneni Narender said. The MLA inspected the ongoing works of the under-bridge here on Wednesday and said that the age-old problem of the locals, who have been facing hardships to cross the railway line, would soon be resolved.
It may be mentioned here that it's difficult to pass the narrow under a bridge, which is located at the heart of the business center.
As a result, the area has been witnessing huge traffic snarls. During the inspection, the MLA told the officials not to compromise on the quality of works as it is a key junction used by thousands of vehicles.
"In the last six decades or so, there was no people's representative, who tried to address the issue. When I became Mayor of Greater Warangal Mayor in 2016, I took up the issue and signed the proceeding to widen the
under a bridge and pursued the matter with the Railways. In 2016, Minister T Harish Rao laid the foundation stone for the construction of additional vent under the railway track to ease the traffic.
Referring to the Opposition's criticism, Narender said that it's surprising to see some people's representatives who never tried to address the issue during their term were pointing fingers at him citing the delay in the under-bridge works.
Narender said: "During the Dasara-Deepavali festive season, there was a break in the works to avoid inconvenience to the people. We have restarted work after the festival season was over. The administration also got all the required permission for the work. Now we have closed the road in view of completing the construction of the vent at the under bridge speedily. The construction of the vent will be completed within a fortnight, thereafter drainage works will follow. The drainage system will be in such a manner that the rainwater will be cleared within 15 minutes."
Referring to the 72nd meeting of the Zonal Railway Users Consultative Committee (ZRUCC) in Secunderabad last week, Narender said that he had urged the authorities to construct another vent at the under bridge, besides moving a proposal to construct a foot over bridge for the convenience of the people.
Stating that Chief Minister
K Chandrashekar Rao was keen to develop Warangal East constituency, Narender said that the upcoming inner ring road (IRR) would be of immense help to the locals.
"We have plans to address the
people living in low lying areas,"
MLA Narender said, expressing gratitude to MA&UD Minister KT Rama Rao and Panchayat Raj Minister Errabelli Dayakar Rao.
