Under KCR, Telangana became role model for India: Governor Tamilisai Sounderarajan

Hyderabad: The joint address to both Houses of Assembly by Governor Tamilisai Sounderarajan proved to be a smooth one. Political circles were in for a surprise when she did not deviate even once during her speech given to her by the government.

Congress leaders appeared disappointed as they commented that the fact that she had read out the speech indicating that BRS and BJP were indulging in shadow boxing. They are two sides of the same coin, they alleged.

Before delivering the joint address, the Governor went to Yadadri Narsimha Swami Temple and this time she was received with full honours as per protocol. All top officials including the temple Executive Officer were present.

When she reached the Assembly, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao along with Council Chairman Gutha Sukhender Reddy and Assembly Speaker P Srinivas Reddy, received the Governor.

Starting her speech by quoting renowned Praja Kavi Kaloji Narayan Rao that 'birth is your death is your life is meant for the country', Governor appreciated the able administration of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, hard work of public representatives and government employees. She said because of the efforts of her government, within eight and half years Telangana had become a role model for the country. Telangana, she said, was now investor-friendly and was attracting top-class companies in IT and other sectors.

She said that the government faced innumerable challenges to bring the state from a desperate situation to what has become a model for the rest of the country.

She referred to the economic development in the state and increase in per capita income, progress in agriculture and irrigation sectors and how 65 lakh farmers benefitted under Rythu Bandhu scheme. She said the state government had also launched innovative schemes like Dalit Bandhu, Aasara pensions, converting tribal thandas into gram panchayats, welfare of BCs and textile workers. She appreciated the efforts of the government which resulted in making Telangana a power-cut free state. The Governor made a special reference to the health infrastructure, reconstruction of Yadadri temple, construction of new Secretariat building and its decision to name if after Dr B R Ambedkar and the 125-ft statue of the Father of the Indian Constitution.

She ended her speech with phrases from Dasaradhi Krishnamacharya - 'Pasi Paapala Nidura Kanulalo Musirina Bhavithavyam entho'.
