Union Minister Arjun Munda offers prayers to tribal deities at Medaram
Union Minister Arjun Munda and other leaders on Saturday visited Medaram and offered prayers to the goddesses.
He said that scores of devotees are turning up to Medaram Jatara, the largest tribal festival in the world. The minister said that the Jatara will be brought to the notice of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to recognise it as a national festival and the same was asked by the state government.
Arjun Munda said that will visit Jatara again to seek blessings from the goddesses.
Meanwhile, minister Indrakaran Reddy also said that he appealed to Arjun Munda to recognise Medaram Jatara as a national festival. "So far, around 12 lakh devotees have been carried from Medaram to various destinations through RTC buses," transport minister Puvvada Ajay said.
